CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP
Why support EWB-USA?
EWB-USA is a member-driven organization working to improve the standard of living in small communities often overlooked by larger aid organizations. Our chapters, all donating their time and expertise to assessing, designing, and implementing engineering solutions, work directly with members of the host community and local non-governmental organizations. This approach ensures buy-in and ownership of the completed project by the host community, as well as a low project cost.
Firms and corporations that employ engineers benefit from the volunteer opportunities, training, and experience that EWB-USA provides. Our student members, working with faculty and professional engineers, have a hands-on opportunity to participate in a successful engineering project from beginning to end, with all the details, communication, problem-solving, cultural engagement, and creative thinking that effort entails. Professional members are able to use their years of training and expertise to benefit others in what is often a life-changing experience. All members who participate in projects gain knowledge and perspective that informs and broadens their understanding of engineering practices, and proves an incredible benefit at work and at school.
Support of EWB-USA also reinforces a company’s beliefs about corporate social responsibility, and in a manner that is directly in line with the company’s own work. Firms that specialize in building bridges can sponsor a project to build a pedestrian bridge in Guatemala. Companies that focus on renewable energy might pledge funds or materials for a project to provide solar-powered lighting to a village school. This commitment to improving conditions in other countries has proven important to company clients as well as employees, and can have a direct benefit in terms of how people view the company and their corporate partners.
Finally, both current and prospective employees consider how a company supports humanitarian efforts when making decisions about where they work. EWB-USA members often choose companies that value their volunteer and philanthropic interests – and demonstrate it through financial contributions – over those that do not. In a country where engineers are in increasingly high demand, supporting EWB-USA contributes to employee satisfaction, recruitment, and retention.
