Cathy Leslie, P.E., Executive Director
Cathy has served as the Executive Director of EWB-USA since 2003.  She received a BSCE degree from Michigan Technological University in 1983.  Cathy's longtime commitment to international development work began when she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal.  In Nepal, Cathy developed engineering solutions related to drinking water and sanitation projects.  Cathy has worked in both the government and private sector as a government liaison, project manager, and private contractor.  As the Civil Engineering Manager at Tetra Tech, RMC, she spent significant time in Rwanda working on projects related to national infrastructure.  As a PE, her areas of technical expertise include transportation and utility infrastructure design.

Cathy incorporates her 25 years of experience as a professional engineer into her role as the Executive Director of EWB-USA by approaching international development projects in an innovative and participatory manner.  With a focus on education, appropriate technology, and the sustainable growth of chapters, Cathy is leading EWB-USA into the future: a future in which engineers are responsible global citizens with a commitment to making a difference.

Ann Geesaman, Executive Assistant (x121)
I am a Colorado native - yep, one of them - and have managed to keep returning to Boulder.  I attended the University of Arizona for two years and have spent most of my grown-up years working with engineers of some sort or another. I joined EWB-USA in February 2005 after retiring from 30 years of service with the University of Colorado College of Engineering and Applied Science.  Besides my current work with EWB-USA, my kids and granddaughters bring me a great deal of pleasure and delight.  My Scottish Fold hobby (or obsession) keeps me busy on my off-days.  Just ask me about my grandbabies and my kitties!

Carole Johns, Accounts Manager (x114)
Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Carole moved to Colorado to attend CU and never left.  Her work experience includes 19 years in local government  working in Sales Tax Accounting, Purchasing and Contracts and Downtown Development.  Previously EWB-USA’s chapter coordinator, she takes on the role of Budget and Accounts Director as EWB-USA moves its finance management "in-house".

Doug Frisbie, Ph.D., Rotary Coordinator (x123)
Doug has a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and taught political science at Miami of Ohio. He worked for many years in the criminal justice field including the biometric field of computerized fingerprint systems. He co-founded Breakthroughs Abroad, a non-profit organization that took US high school students to developing communities to perform community service. Doug is an active member of the Estes Park community where he has resided for the past 17 years. A member of The Rotary Club of Estes Park he has also been a member of the local board of education and has been active in providing affordable health care to low income, uninsured working families. Prior to joining Engineers Without Borders-USA, Doug was the Estes Park Manager for Larimer County Health and Human Services. Doug and Eileen have two daughters, Alexis a high school senior and Kathryn, a college senior.

Heidi Frutchey, Accounts Manager Assistant (x122)
Heidi is an alumna of Wittenberg University, Kent State University, and California State University at Hayward.  She was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio.  Heidi was raised on a beautiful farm along with three older sisters and three younger brothers.  Before settling in Longmont, Colorado, Heidi lived in Hawaii, California, and Ohio.  Heidi and her husband, Rob, have three boys and one girl.  They love to ride dirt bikes and horses.

Heidi joined EWB-USA in October, 2007.

Sondra Greene, Finance Director (x126)
Sondra joined EWB-USA in February 2008.  Her background is in project financing, in particular the development of privately financed infrastructure projects around the world.  She worked in London for thirteen years, most recently for Macquarie Bank, where she advised clients on the financing of large infrastructure projects in Europe and also evaluated and negotiated infrastructure investments on behalf of the Bank’s managed funds.  Sondra is thrilled to be working for EWB-USA and sees many common themes between billion dollar projects in the developed world and the tiny (by comparison) projects enabled by EWB in the developing world – primarily the need for local support and the vision of long term sustainability.

Sondra received her BA from Brandeis University and her MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  She recently moved to Colorado with her husband (who she met in Tanzania) and son (who can’t wait to go on his first safari) and is enjoying the sunshine immensely after all those years in London.

Colin Lacy, Project Coordinator (x124)
While home has always been the small, mountain town of Ridgway, Colorado, Colin has spent much of his life living internationally as a resident of Mexico, Romania and Indonesia.  He recently returned from the Dominican Republic, where he worked as an educator with the DREAM Project in the local public school system.  Colin has conducted extensive independent research overseas, including an investigation in collaboration with local government on the prospects for sustainable tourism in Patagonia, Chile.  He also developed an ongoing business model with local artisan communities in Asuncion, Paraguay for a fair-trade, textile-export company.  A graduate of the University of Colorado, his personal interests include telemark skiing, surfing and Broncos Football.  Professionally Colin is very excited about the opportunities presented by the modern global economy and is eager to further contribute to the potential of the 21st century.

Colleen O'Holleran, Chapter Relations Manager, South East and Mountain Regions  (x120)

Colleen O'Holleran is the EWB-USA Chapter Relations Manager for the Mountain and South East Regions.  She is an MA candidate in Sustainable Development from the School for International Training (SIT) in Brattleboro, Vermont.  She has her BA and INVST Community Leadership Program Certificate from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Colleen has lived and worked in Mexico, Morocco, and Spain with NGO's in the capacity of an educator and program leader.  Colleen is a member of Planner's Network and a longtime volunteer for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation (HOBY).  She lives in Boulder and is currently completing her capstone thesis on urban agriculture in Boulder county.

Gina Earles, Managing Director (x115)
Gina joined EWB-USA in 2007 as Managing Director. Working with numerous nonprofits in economically depressed areas of the U.S., Gina has supported grass roots efforts to create jobs in these communities by preparing business plans, securing funding and providing technical assistance.  She has also worked in strategic planning and development for non-profit and for-profit organizations.  Relying on her background in economic development, strategic planning, marketing and banking, Gina oversees chapter management, communications, public relations, development activities and financial planning at EWB-USA.

Gina received her B.A. from Northwestern University and M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College.  Born in Indiana, Gina has lived in Chicago, L.A., Boston, New Hampshire and Huntington Beach, CA before settling permanently in Boulder, CO with her husband and two sons.  They camp and ride bikes together, and Gina loves to escape to her home pottery studio.

Heidi Dormody, Development Director (x116)
Heidi joined EWB-USA in 2007 as a Development Consultant.  She worked previously as a Development Officer for the University of Colorado Foundation and specifically the College of Engineering at CU.  She has also worked in human relations, event planning, and as a high-end tour guide, visiting all seven continents and over 75 countries in four years.

Heidi received her B.A. from Dartmouth College.  Born in California, Heidi has lived in the Bay Area, San Diego, Boston, New Hampshire, Seattle, and now Boulder, CO, where she plans to stay for a long while with her husband and two sons.  When not raising money for EWB-USA, Heidi enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering, hiking, biking and a few quiet minutes -  if she can ever find them - reading.

Meg VanSciver, Senior Project Manager  (x112)
Meg received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University, and her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania, East Africa, where she taught secondary mathematics and physics on the island of Zanzibar and co-directed the construction of a school library.  Upon returning, Meg worked as an engineer in the private sector before taking a position with EWB-USA.

Meg currently volunteers on the Muramba, Rwanda project with the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Peter Waugh, P.E., Project Manager (x118)
Peter Waugh is a project manager with EWB. He has over twenty years experience in civil, structural and water resources engineering. Most recently he had his own consulting firm specializing in Native American water resources issues. After earning his BS and MS at the University of Colorado, he spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Seychelles. He lives in Boulder with his wife Lisa and two kids.

Rosemary Powers, Chapter Relations Manager, East Coast Region (x119)
Rosemary is from Thika, Kenya near the city of Nairobi. She worked in Nairobi with Ashcott (K) Ltd. and Achelis (K) Ltd. as a customer service representative and later, as a sales administrator. Rosemary graduated from Missouri State University with a B.S. in Marketing Management. She lived in Missouri for three years before moving to Colorado. She loves Colorado for many reasons, one of which is that the elevation is the same as her home in Nairobi. She has two adorable kids.  Rosemary loves spending time with her family.

Sara Fahlin, Receptionist
Sara completed a double major in anthropology and political science from the University of Colorado in May 2001.  She also attended graduate school at University of Colorado at Denver.  She has a background in medical anthropology with concentrations in maternal and child health, disability studies, and cross-cultural birthing practices.  While attending CU, Sara travelled abroad to eleven countries around the globe through the Semester at Sea program. While on her trip, she gained intimate knowledge of the many difficulties that developing countries face concerning sanitation, public health and everyday life.  Sara has lived in the Boulder area for over 10 years, and now lives in Longmont with her husband, two cute boys, and furry friends.  She enjoys movies (if a babysitter is available), reading, cooking, and hopes to become an avid gardener.

Tammy Wergin,
Chapter Relations Manager, West Coast and Mid West Regions (x117)
Tammy graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in communication. She is a trained mediator who provides her coworkers with sound advice as well as frequent practical jokes. With Tammy in the office, the staff has learned to expect the unexpected. Tammy is an avid sports fan -- she loves the CU Buffaloes, NY Yankees, Denver Broncos and her three daughters' softball and basketball teams.

Tiffany Martindale, Project Manager (x127)
Tiffany joined EWB-USA in April 2008 as a Project Manager. Originally from California, she graduated with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and is a licensed Professional Engineer. Her background is in structural design for private consulting firms and project management in the public sector. She volunteered for three and a half years in Niger, West Africa, where she managed woodless construction projects in the Sahel region and also became the first HIV/AIDS Program Coordinator for Peace Corps in Niger. Additionally, she maintains an active interest in promoting reinforced adobe construction techniques in rural developing communities at risk of seismic hazards.

In her new role at EWB, she has found the perfect blend of her global interests and her skills in engineering.  She has traveled for leisure to many West African countries, Greece, Chile, Peru and Italy. Tiffany spends her free time backpacking, kayaking, biking, listening to a variety of music, exploring new cultures and enjoying life in Colorado with her family.

Tracy Beavers, Chapter Relations Manager, South Central and Great Lakes Regions (x111)
Tracy joined EWB-USA in August of 2006 and is returning to the workforce after a 6-1/2 year "vacation" to stay home with her 3 kids. Prior to that, Tracy was in charge of International Sales, including Europe, Asia and South America, for Case Logic Inc. She has 15 years of sales and customer experience and enjoys working with the different chapters at EWB-USA. Tracy is a published poet and currently working on her first novel. She and her husband  are scuba diving addicts and love to dive Cozumel and Belize with the hopes of making it to Honduras soon. She loves to read, watch her kids play softball and spend time with her husband and kids on their bass boat at their cabin in Grand Lake, CO.

Zoe Kircos, Grants Coordinator (x128)
Zoe has written grants and proposals for non-profit organizations for over six years, the past three with EWB-USA. Her passion for contributing to the well-being of the planet and its people has led her on many a career path; in addition to her work with EWB-USA, Zoe is also a professional mediator and facilitator, a coach and trainer in the Non-Adversarial Communication process, and a teacher of a Life Skills class for teens and their parents. Zoe is an avid reader and runner, though she prefers not to do them simultaneously unless she is really pressed for time.

Dianne Shanks, serving as Outreach Director
Since 2002, Dianne has managed various programs for EWB-USA. These include special events, public relations, conference and workshop development and communications. She also participates in various fundraising activities.

For more than 35 years Dianne has been a special visionary strategic planner and public relations consultant to corporations, state and city governments and multiple not for profit organizations. She is a long time advocate of sustainable practices and appropriate technology, having focused on promoting those fields. Conference and education program development were an integral part of these efforts.
